Fluids and inspections
Fluids are the lifeblood of a vehicle. Knowing what to check, and how often, prevents small problems from becoming expensive ones.

Engine oil
Follow the interval in your owner's manual and check the dipstick between changes. Dark, gritty oil or a low level deserves attention.
Brake and transmission
Brake fluid absorbs moisture over time, and transmission fluid keeps shifts smooth. Have these inspected on the schedule your manufacturer recommends.
Seasonal walkaround
A quick monthly walkaround catches leaks, worn belts, and low fluids early, when they are cheapest to fix.
Quick checklist
- Check engine oil level and color
- Follow your manual's service interval
- Inspect brake fluid condition
- Watch for leaks under the car
- Do a monthly under-hood walkaround
